Premdor employees are not only interested in creating quality timber doors, washrooms and cubicles. Each and every employee is dedicated to the continuous improvement of Premdor's environmental management programme so that agreed environmental targets are met. The company's manufacturing and central warehouse facility in the UK is located at Barnsley and has been independently accredited to meet the requirements of the environmental management standard BS EN ISO 14001. The aims of this management programme are:
Premdor is fully committed to the principles promoted by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). All its timber and timber-based material suppliers are obligated to ensure that, as minimum, materials are sourced in accordance with legal forestry and logging controls.
Premdor has an extensive range of internal and external timber doors, French and folding doors, and doorsets available to supply customers with either FSC® or PEFC Chain of Custody, which offers assurance that an independently audited route to market is being followed, demonstrating our commitment to environmentally and socially responsible forest management. FSC® and PEFC Certification relate to timber doors within the Premdor 'Chain of Custody' portfolio and are represented through the use of the FSC® or PEFC logo alongside certified doors.
The new EU Timber Regulations took effect in March 2013 and Premdor has taken the necessary steps in order to ascertain that illegally harvested timber and timber-products derived from such materials are not placed within the EU marketplace. By successfully completing these steps, the company can confirm that all timber purchased and all products sold by Premdor and Hills, comply with the new regulation.
Written procedures within Premdor's ISO BS EN 14001 and ISO BS EN 9001, FSC® and PEFC management systems have been changed to reflect the new EUTR requirements and the company will be audited twice yearly during surveillance visits.
TARGET ZERO is Premdor's own Health and Safety programme - an amalgamation of a number of ground-breaking initiatives launched in 2012.
The message is simple - Target Zero is less about numbers and more about people and Premdor strives to achieve a target number of ZERO accidents and injuries across its two manufacturing facilities in Barnsley and Middlesbrough.
The Target Zero strategy is more than a management initiative and in fact, it is every employee's responsibility to help maintain a zero performance level. The management role is to set a non-compromising example to promote every colleague to do the same, all day and every day.
