A team of 17 employees from Premdor took part in a dragon boat challenge organised by the Rotary Clubs of Huddersfield and Wakefield Chantry and to their own surprise, won the competition!
36 teams took part in the event held at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, with Premdor entering the competition to raise vital funds for Barnsley Hospice - the company's 2015 chosen charity. Each dragon boat had to contain 16 rowers and one drummer, who would be responsible for banging out the team's pace, with Team Premdor having no prior rowing (or drumming) experience.
Expectations were understandably low, but after a shaky start, Premdor found their rhythm and sailed through to the final. Digging deep, the team produced a perfect display of teamwork to cruise to an unexpected victory, returning back to base with gold medals and trophies galore!
James Kane, Team Premdor captain, said: "We just wanted to have a fun day and try and raise as much for Barnsley Hospice as possible. We were happy not to capsize with it being our first time in a dragon boat, but to win it was amazing both for us and the hospice".
